Please check your dog treats, as the FDA has announced a warning for chicken strips, tenders and treats made from chicken imported from China.
Vets and dog people have been pressuring the FDA to do a recall on these products as they feel that there is a correlation between these products and dogs getting very ill and even dying. Apparently, the FDA feels that further investigation needs to be done.
Various common symptoms that have been reported: decrease in appetite, lethargy, vomitting, diarrhea(sometimes with blood), increased water consumption and urination, kidney failure, Fanconi Syndrome(increased glucose). Like I said, even death.
What you can do: Check your dog treats. If you have purchased these chicken products, return them for a refund. Don’t buy dog treats that have been made with chicken imported from China. Let other dog people know about this issue. Sign petitions. Contact Government Officials about your concerns.
My condolences to all of you who have had their loved ones pass on due to these products. By taking action, we can make sure that these glorious beings have not died in vain. We can also prevent others from becoming ill and even dying.
I also feel that the bigger message is for us to respect chickens by raising and killing them in a respectful way, buying local and supporting our own farmers.
Loving Light, Bev
